Lime Riders Roll Past 7 Million Rides in Santiago

Lime, the world’s leading provider of shared electric vehicles, announced that riders in Santiago have officially surpassed 7 million lifetime trips on its e-scooters and e-bikes. Lime launched in Santiago in November 2018 as the first shared micromobility company in Chile, first operating in Las Condes and La Reina. Since launch, Lime has invested over $15 million in operations in Santiago, and Lime is celebrating the milestone of 7 million rides with plans to deepen its investments in the community with a focus on proper parking and tidiness to promote safety for riders and non-riders alike.

“Lime’s main goal since its arrival in Chile has been to connect folks to where they need to go by offering safe, affordable, transportation options that reduce traffic and congestion and help make Santiago more sustainable. We are proud and grateful that over 751,000 residents and visitors have taken more than 7 million trips on our e-bikes and e-scooters.This year, riders and non-riders alike will see us double down on our commitment to Santiago, doubling down on and investing in initiatives that will improve the shared e-scooter experience for everyone who lives, works, and  plays in the region. We are proud of the partnerships we’ve built with the cities we serve in the Metropolitan Region and we hope to continue to grow responsibly, connecting more communities, promoting green transportation, and stimulating the local economy of the entire region. ” said Jhonny Guerra, Operations Leader at Lime.

Investing in Santiago and Improving Service

Lime continues to lead the shared electric vehicle industry forward in terms of building a sustainable, profitable business and then making investments in the cities it serves, which it plans to continue doing in Santiago throughout 2025.

Those investments include:

  • Rider education campaigns via public relations and marketing efforts including social media, paid advertising, email and in-app messaging, and in-person events

  • Safe riding promotions and helmet giveaways at in-person events called First Ride Academies

  • Hi-tech investments in hardware and operational software to improve parking

  • More staff on the ground to improve parking manually

  • Physical parking corrals in high ridership corridors to improve tidiness

Santiago joins hundreds of cities across the globe in decarbonizing transportation with Lime, which set records in 2024 with 175 million rides and $810 million in gross bookings, reflecting growth of 31% versus 2023. Since launching, over 751,000 Santiago riders have traveled 10 million kilometres, keeping an estimated 2.3 million car trips off the road.

Lime’s impact on reducing congestion, promoting green transportation, and protecting the environment has been considerable already and the company hopes to expand its services and continue to partner with the city partners and the local community to build Santiago’s sustainable transportation future.
