Peru starts using new $3.5m scanner at Lima airport

LIMA – Peru’s Customs agency Sunat is now using a US$3.5 million scanner donated by the United States Embassy in Lima as part of bilateral Customs co-operation efforts to strengthen supply chain security at Lima’s Jorge Chavez International Airport.

The scanner features state-of-the-art equipment including a pallet scanner for non-invasive Customs inspection.

The new cargo control facility will reduce inspection times and physical inspection of traded goods.

It also will help identify vulnerabilities in flows of people more accurately.
