
Patricia Fuenmayor, a beloved Venezuelan television presenter and former Miss Universe contestant, has died at the age of 51 after a battle with cancer, according to reports.
Univision’s Despierta América shared the news on Instagram, expressing sorrow for the loss of their New York correspondent. “We deeply regret the passing of Patricia Fuenmayor, our colleague and correspondent in New York. May she rest in peace,” the post read.
The announcement sparked an outpouring of grief on social media from colleagues, friends, and fans. Patricia Ramos, with over 150,000 Instagram followers, expressed disbelief, asking, “How come God? What happened to Patricia?” Meanwhile, TV anchor Elyangelica Gonzalez offered condolences: “What a great pain Patricia! May God receive you in his holy glory, give strength to your family and comfort your beloved children. The sky today is much prettier with your arrival.”
Fuenmayor, who had amassed more than 210,000 followers on Instagram, had recently shared a heartfelt New Year’s message on January 1, wishing health, joy, and abundance to her followers and family.
Fans flooded her social media with messages of sorrow and support for her family. One wrote, “I can’t believe this,” accompanied by broken heart emojis. Another commented, “I’m so sorry for Patricia Fuenmayor’s family, may the Holy Spirit of the Eternal comfort and embrace you, help you in the most difficult moments.”
According to Noticias de Aquí, Fuenmayor contributed to Univision programs Despierta América and Edición Digital. She was also known for sharing personal moments with her husband, Jorge Safar Perez, and family on social media, including a Valentine’s Day post celebrating love and togetherness.
A tribute on Facebook from Edinson Jose Calderon Perez described her as a “beautiful queen, model, mother, journalist, friend and a great Venezuelan,” praising her professionalism, dedication, and vibrant spirit. “Thank you, Patricia, for your light, your delivery and your smile. We will always remember you. May God have you in His glory,” he wrote.
